AI Strategy.

The AI landscape moves quickly, but good strategy does not need to chase trends. I help founders, executives, boards, and SMEs cut through the noise and build a clear, practical plan for AI adoption and intelligent automation that is grounded in your organisation's actual needs.
A · The noise
  • ChatGPT hype
  • Vendor pitches
  • "AI-powered" everything
  • Conflicting advice
  • FOMO
  • Shiny demos
  • Buzzword overload
  • Pilot fatigue
B · The work
  • Readiness assessment
  • Landscape mapping
  • Strategic roadmap
C · Your strategy
  • 01Where AI fits in your business
  • 02What to build vs. buy vs. ignore
  • 03Phased implementation plan
  • 04Risk and ethics framework
  • 05Measurable success criteria

From noise to a strategy you can actually execute.

The challenge

Most AI strategies fail before they start

Not because the technology is not capable, but because the strategy was not grounded in reality. Too many organisations invest in AI because they feel they should, without a clear understanding of what problem they are solving or whether their business is ready.

The result is wasted budget, frustrated teams, and a growing scepticism about AI that makes the next attempt even harder.

The approach

Clarity before commitment

I start by understanding your business: your processes, your people, your commercial goals. From there, we map the AI landscape as it relates to your situation, not the industry at large.

The output is a strategic roadmap you can actually execute: prioritised initiatives, realistic timelines, clear success metrics, and a risk framework that keeps you on the right side of ethics and regulation.

What's included

A strategy engagement typically covers

AI Readiness Assessment

An honest evaluation of where your organisation stands today: your data, your processes, your team's capabilities, so you know exactly what's feasible and what isn't.

Technology Landscape Mapping

A clear-eyed view of the tools, platforms, and approaches that are actually relevant to your situation. No trend-chasing, no vendor bias.

Strategic Roadmap Development

A phased plan that connects AI initiatives to business outcomes. Prioritised by impact, sequenced for practical delivery, and designed to evolve as you learn.

Risk & Ethics Framework

A structured approach to responsible AI adoption, covering data governance, bias mitigation, regulatory compliance, and the ethical questions that matter most.

FAQ

Common questions about AI Strategy

AI Strategy from MoonBoots Consultancy is a vendor-neutral advisory engagement for founders, executives, boards, and SMEs in Norfolk and East Anglia. Fixed price, founder-delivered, with a written Blueprint you own and keep.

  • What is the deliverable from an AI Strategy engagement?
A written AI Blueprint document, delivered within 10 working days of the workshop. It covers a prioritised, costed, phased plan: what to build, in what order, with what budget, with what risks. The Blueprint is yours to keep regardless of whether you proceed with implementation. Most clients say it is the clearest document on AI they have received.
  • We have already bought some AI tools. Is a strategy engagement still useful?
Often more useful. The Blueprint Day audits what is currently deployed, what is producing measurable value, and what should be retired. We have seen clients where the highest-value recommendation was to switch off three tools they were paying for. Vendor-neutral means we are willing to say "this is not working".
  • How long does an AI Strategy engagement take?
The Blueprint Day is one full day, on your site or remote. The written Blueprint is delivered within 10 working days. Larger engagements with multiple business units are quoted separately. Most SMEs find one Blueprint Day sufficient for a 12-month horizon.
  • What does an AI Strategy cost?
£1,495 fixed for the Blueprint Day, including travel within East Anglia and the written Blueprint document. The full fee is creditable against any implementation booked within 60 days. Larger multi-unit engagements are quoted separately.
  • Who actually runs the strategy day, a junior consultant or the founder?
The founder, John Sears. There are no subcontractors and no junior staff handed off to. The same person who writes the code on implementation engagements runs the strategy day. This is the deliberate operating model.

A strategy engagement typically starts with a conversation about where you are now and where you want to be. No obligation, no jargon.
